ABOUT ME

Growing up in a family where SLRs were the camera of choice provided me with the opportunity to experiment with photography from a young age.  Looking back at my earliest shots it became clear that much like today, the subjects more often than not had wings or hulls.  Though lately many of my photos are of winged helmets rather than aircraft, it is impossible to forget my roots as that kid dragging his family to airshows or blowing through a whole roll of film before we even took off on a vacation.

As I continued to grow and develop as a photographer, scenes that once called for a single frame snapshot suddenly became targets for massive multi-frame panoramic images, and interesting lighting at night begged for the high dynamic range treatment.  Snapshots of sporting events once meant to capture a memory soon became an endless pursuit of perfection, and the simple side-on shot of an airliner was no longer good enough.  I currently find myself specializing in aviation, athletic, and maritime photography, with experience shooting events, portraits, and landscapes as well.

With a camera in hand, I have been fortunate to experience places I never thought possible, from the Red Bull Air Race media center, to the field at Michigan Stadium and from the bridge of the largest cruise ship in the world, to hanging out the side of a Blackhawk helicopter, I've seen things that very few people will ever be able to experience from vantage points most can't imagine.

My latest adventure has been taking to the skies in the back seat of former military training jets such as the L-39 and T-33 to capture images of an incredible group of aviators as they hone their formation and dogfighting skills.  Shooting photos while flying along at hundreds of miles per hour mere feet from 3-4 other aircraft while pulling up to 5 G's is an indescribable feeling and I'm hooked!  I can't wait to see where the camera will take me next.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my small piece of the internet.  I sincerely hope you enjoy the images and the story they tell.  This is a work in progress and with any luck will continue to improve with each and every shutter click.
